How to Use the Solano County Inmate Search
The Sheriff's in-custody tool is a single search box. It looks plain, but it has one strict rule. You must type at least three letters of either the first or the last name. Short names like Lo or Vu will not return a result on the first try. You can pull up the live search at the Sheriff's Solano in-custody search page.
- Open the in-custody search page in a browser. The system loads a small form with one text box.
- Type the first three letters or more of the inmate's last name. You can also try the first name. Do not mix both into one field.
- Click Search. The page lists any current inmate whose name starts with those letters.
- Click a row to view the basic profile. The page shows name, booking ID, and other public fields the Sheriff has chosen to release.
- If you get no result, try the other name field, a partial name, or call the 24-hour booking line at (707) 784-7112 to verify custody.
The Sheriff updates the data in near real time, so a search at 2 PM and a search at 5 PM can return different lists. People who post bail, get released on their own recognizance, or transfer to court holding may drop off the list within minutes.
The Solano Sheriff In-Custody Search Portal
The portal is hosted on a Sheriff subdomain and uses a basic ASP.NET form. The image below shows the live tool from the Sheriff's in-custody search page.

The tool accepts very few inputs. There is no date filter, no booking number search, and no charge search on the public side. Here is what the page asks for.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text | Yes (or first name) | Enter at least the first 3 letters. Partial match is supported. |
| First Name | Text | Yes (or last name) | Enter at least 3 letters. Use this field if the last name is short or unclear. |
| Search | Button | n/a | Runs the lookup against current in-custody records. |
| Clear | Button | n/a | Clears the form for a fresh search. |
| Search All | Button | n/a | Attempts to list the full roster. The public version may time out or limit results. |
The Sheriff's disclaimer on this page says the tool is a public service and not an official record. It can contain errors. Some inmates are left out. The published name, age, booking date, or location may not match the true record. Treat any hit as a lead, not a fact.
Sample Solano Inmate-Profile Field Inventory
When you click an inmate's row, the system loads a short profile. Not every field appears on every record, and some fields are blank by policy. The table below covers what most public profiles show.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Booking Number | The unique ID assigned at intake. Used by the jail, the court, and the bail agent. |
| Name | The name on file at booking. May be a legal name, an alias, or a name the inmate gave officers. |
| DOB or Age | Date of birth or age in years. The Sheriff warns this may not be the true age. |
| Charges | The arrest charges. Charges can change once the District Attorney files in court. |
| Bail or Bond | Dollar bail under the local schedule, or a no-bail hold for certain offenses. |
| Booking Date | When the inmate was processed into the jail. Logs run in 24-hour periods. |
| Facility | Which Solano jail holds the inmate. Most start at the Justice Center. |
| Court Date | Next scheduled appearance. May be blank until the court sets a date. |
| Release Date | Projected release for sentenced inmates. Pretrial inmates have no fixed date. |
| Hold Status | Notes such as no-bail, court hold, probation hold, or out-of-county warrant. |
Some fields are not pushed to the public view. Mugshots, full housing-unit codes, and medical or mental-health notes stay out of the public tool. For those details, call the Records and Warrants Bureau at (707) 784-7010 or email SHFRecords@SolanoCounty.com.

Sheriff Jail Booking Logs
Apart from the live roster, the Sheriff posts a public booking log. The log shows people who were arrested and booked into the Solano County jail in the last seven days. The page is at the Sheriff's jail booking logs page, and the file is refreshed nightly at midnight in 24-hour batches.

The county releases this booking data under the California Public Records Act. The legal hook is Government Code 7923.610, which covers contemporaneous arrest and booking information. You can read the statute on the state's official legislative info site. Disable popup blockers before clicking the booking log link. The system opens in a new window and can fail silently if popups are blocked.
The log is helpful for two cases. First, when a family member was just arrested and is not yet visible on the roster. Second, when a reporter or attorney wants the day's bookings sorted by time. The log fades out items after seven days, so save or screenshot anything you need to keep.
Booking Process at a Solano Jail
Most arrests in Solano County go through the Justice Center on Union Avenue. The steps are routine but they take time. A simple booking can take two to four hours. Holds with medical screening or classification issues can run longer.
The steps an arrested person moves through:
- Arrest by a city police officer, the Sheriff, or the California Highway Patrol.
- Transport to the Justice Center sally port for intake.
- Intake identification. Officers confirm name, DOB, and prior bookings.
- Fingerprinting and a booking photo.
- Property inventory. Cash, phone, ID, and personal items are logged and stored.
- Medical, mental health, and classification screening by jail staff.
- Housing assignment based on charge, gender, security level, and medical needs.
- Phone access. Most inmates get a free local call within a few hours.
- Arraignment scheduling. The court sets the first appearance, usually within 48 hours not counting weekends.
- Bail or own-recognizance review. The Sheriff applies the bail schedule until the judge sets bail at first appearance.
Once booked, the inmate shows up on the live in-custody search. If you cannot find a name on the roster two to three hours after an arrest, call the booking line at (707) 784-7112 and confirm spelling and DOB.
Bail Schedules and Release
Bail in Solano County follows California Penal Code sections 1269b and 1275. Before a judge sees the case, the Sheriff sets bail under the uniform bail schedule the local Superior Court adopts each year. After first appearance, the judge can raise, lower, or remove bail based on the 1275 factors. Those factors include public safety, the protection of the victim, the seriousness of the charge, and the defendant's prior record.
The Superior Court posts its current schedule and bail rules on the court's bail information page. Bail can be posted as cash, as a bond through a licensed bail agent, or in some cases by property. Some charges, such as certain domestic violence or capital cases, carry a no-bail hold and require a court hearing before any release.
Release can also happen without bail. The court can grant release on own recognizance, also called OR. The pretrial services team interviews qualifying inmates and writes a recommendation for the judge. OR release usually carries conditions, such as check-ins, no-contact orders, or no use of alcohol or drugs.
Visitation at Solano Jails
Visitation is run by each facility, not at one central office. Hours, dress code, and ID rules can change after a lockdown, a classification change, or a court movement. Call the facility direct line on the day of the visit to confirm. The Sheriff's main number is (707) 784-7000, and each facility has its own line.
| Day | Facility | Type / Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Justice Center | Call (707) 784-7100 to confirm hours and slot availability. |
| Tuesday | Claybank | Call (707) 784-7190 for sentenced inmate visit windows. |
| Wednesday | Stanton | Call (707) 784-4830. Video visits may be offered through the Sheriff vendor. |
| Thursday | Justice Center | In-person and video visit slots vary by housing unit. |
| Friday | Claybank | Confirm ID rules and minor escort rules before arrival. |
| Saturday | Stanton | Weekend visits are common but limited by classification. |
| Sunday | All facilities | Visit slots are limited. Attorney visits are scheduled separately. |
Visitors should bring a valid government photo ID. Minors usually must come with a parent or legal guardian. Attorneys schedule visits through the custody division and use a separate visit room. People in administrative segregation, medical holds, or classification review may have no visits until cleared.
Mail, Phone, and Commissary
Mail to an inmate must include the inmate's full legal name and booking number on the outer envelope. Use the facility address on the contact card above. The jail scans, screens, and may reject anything that looks like contraband. Common rejections include stickers, glitter, perfumed paper, cash, gift cards, and any item that could conceal drugs. Photos and books often have special rules, so check with the facility before sending.
Phone calls work through the jail's contracted vendor. Inmates can call out on a collect basis or use a prepaid account that family or friends set up. Call rates and fees are set by the vendor and posted at the kiosk and on the vendor site. Inmates cannot receive incoming calls, but staff can pass an urgent message in real emergencies.
Commissary funds go through the Sheriff's online vendor. Family can fund an account from a phone or computer. The funds let the inmate buy snacks, hygiene items, paper, and stamps from the in-house store. Deposit limits, vendor fees, and order schedules are set by the vendor and the Custody Division. Call the facility or check the Sheriff's main page for the current vendor link before depositing money.
Sex Offender Registry and Megan's Law
People who have to register as sex offenders in California are listed on the state Department of Justice site. The public version is the Megan's Law database. Access starts at the California Megan's Law disclaimer page. You must accept the use terms before you can search by name, address, or ZIP code. Use this site for verification of a registrant's status, not as a substitute for the Solano jail roster.
Looking Up Released Inmates
If a person no longer shows on the Solano roster, they may have been released, bailed out, transferred to court, sent to state prison, or moved to a federal facility. For Solano-specific release questions, start with the dedicated page on released inmates. For state prison sentences, the California Department of Corrections runs a public lookup at the CDCR CIRIS database. For victim notification on a custody change, register with VINELink, which sends alerts by phone, text, or email.
Federal Inmates Held Locally
Solano County jails sometimes hold federal detainees under contract, but most federal prisoners are housed by the U.S. Bureau of Prisons. To find a federal inmate, use the BOP inmate locator. You can search by name or by a federal register number. The locator covers all BOP facilities and shows projected release dates for sentenced prisoners.

Disclaimer
Important: The Solano in-custody search is a public service, not an official record. The Sheriff warns that names, ages, booking numbers, dates, and locations may be wrong, that some inmates are left out, and that misuse may carry civil or criminal liability. Always verify a hit by phone before acting on it.
